Weekend of September 21
Who’s waiting for your invite?
Our public launch is just a week away! We’ve been praying and preparing for this date for months, and we are excited to see how God will work in Oaks Church. As we finalize details, please continue to pray for whom God wants you to invite to Oaks Church. Many of us have unchurched neighbors, co-workers, and acquaintances from kids’ activities, among others. Spend time praying for opportunities to invite these people to Oaks Church starting next week — Sunday, September 28.
Be the role model they remember
Step in and make a difference in the lives of our boys! We’re looking for teenage and adult men to lead small groups in K-2nd and 3rd-5th grades. Young boys need positive male role models to look up to and learn from, especially as they discover God’s Word. Don’t worry—you won’t be doing it alone! Everything you need to lead your group is provided to make serving simple, fun, and impactful. If you’re ready to invest in the next generation and show God’s love in a hands-on way, email Kayleigh Allred, kallred@oakscg.church.
Serve one week – worship the next
Starting a new church takes all of us pitching in—and often in more than one way! We’re inviting everyone to consider serving in two roles for a single week (for example, set-up/take-down and Kids or Connect), then taking the next week off from serving so you can fully worship and rest. Our biggest current need is help with set-up and take-down in both Kids and Worship. If you haven’t jumped in yet, email Henry Michael, henrymw@oakscg.church and we’ll help you find the right spots to make a difference.
Guys, join us for a study of Joshua
In eight-week video series, pastor Louie Giglio will show that our story today isn’t too far removed from Joshua and the Israelites: we need the same strength, courage, and faith to face the challenges in our lives. We’ll explore what it means to follow God faithfully, no matter what obstacles are before you. Saturdays at 7 am at Five Oaks starting September 20, or Wednesdays, 6:15-7:45 pm, starting on September 24, at Oltman Middle School. Email Matt Karasek with questions.
Small groups: Find your place to belong
As our church continues to grow, so do opportunities to get connected to authentic community and grow in your faith. Fall is a great season to join a small group! Most groups meet in homes 1-3 times per month and focus on studying scripture, prayer, fellowship, and almost always involve food. Want more info? Email Henry Michael, henrymw@oakscg.church, or search for Oaks Church small groups in the Church Center app.
Grab the paint cans and rollers!
Five Oaks has an impact partnership with Hope Farms School in Stockholm, WI, whose mission is to produce Godly men who will be ready for anything after high school. Hope Farm School is a holistic, incarnational ministry that seeks to develop young men in all areas of life. We’re partnering with them for a project on October 4 that involves painting the main house at the farm. We’re hoping to get 20-30 volunteers to jump in so we can complete the task in one day. Questions? Email Joe Baumann, joebaumann3366@gmail.com. Sign up for this event here.
Parenting Event: Be equipped for every phase
Because every parenting phase is unique, you need resources at each phase. We are hosting a parenting event on October 6 with three different breakout sessions to choose from: 1. Getting to the Root: Why all Behavior Has Meaning, 2. Discipline that Connects with Your Child’s Heart, and 3. Equipping Parents to Have Conversations with Their Kids About Sex. Each session will include live teaching, discussion, and Q & A. Details and registration here.
Save the date: Congregational Meeting November 16
Mark your calendar now to join us on Sunday, November 16, 4 pm, at Five Oaks Church, for our annual congregational meeting. We’ll have a short business meeting followed by a time of fellowship and food. Child care will be provided. More details to follow.
